By Your Eyes

This is Wendy Beckerman's third album and it shows marked growth in the artist's acclaimed songwriting and performance. A more naked album than her first two, the raw production is appropriate for showing the songs in their best light. Recorded with Wendy Beckerman (acoustic guitar, vocals), Jenny Hersch (upright bass), Louise Taylor and Annie Gallup (harmony vocals), Dave Anthony (percussion) and Sara Parkins (violin).
The songs range from the disturbingly beautiful and rhythmic "Waiting" to the catchy and hummable "Sunday Morning" amd "All About Love" to the sweetly chilling melodic "Mango Moon " and "Sleep". This is mainly a vocal album, where the female voices paint the mood and the spaces left between the sparse arrangements are pregnant with emotion. The Cainsville Sun in Florida wrote to an advance copy of "Mango Moon"= "Her spartan style is reminiscent of early Joni Mitchell, but her lyrics are smarter, less confessional and her music is warm and comfortable (although the melodies often go in delightfully unexpected directions). She sings with a lovely, personable voice. " Back Catalog: "By Your Eyes" (199452-2)
